Missions fund-raiser continues

The Kasilof Community Church will hold a garage sale fund-raiser from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Saturday at the church at the corner of Kalifornsky Beach Road and the Sterling Highway. All proceeds will benefit orphans in Russia.

Relay for Life slated

The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life on the Kenai Peninsula will begin at 6 p.m. today at the Skyview High School track. The all-night event will include live music and a walking relay to support the society's Reach to Recovery, Look Better-Feel Better, Wig Loan Closet and support group programs. Nikiski seniors hold fund-raiser

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center will hold a garage sale fund-raiser from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Saturday at the center. For more information, call Leigh at 776-7654.

Benefit dinner, auction planned

A spaghetti dinner and auction to benefit cancer victim Butch Poissant will begin at 6:30 p.m. today at the Soldotna Elks Club. Norm Blakely will preside. All proceeds will go to help defray the cost of Poissant's medical treatments. A bank account has been set up at First National Bank for those wishing to make a contribution. Masons to hold charity golf tourney

The Kenai Masonic Lodge No. 11 will hold its 19th annual golf tournament at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Kenai Golf Course. Registration begins at 6 a.m. Door prizes, refreshments and a hole-in-one event to win a car are some of the planned activities. Proceeds will go toward the Masonic school awards program.

Tree sale, hike planned

The Kachemak Heritage Land Trust will hold a tree sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. A selection of trees chosen by Toby Tyler will be available to purchase.

A trail restoration hike to remove fallen trees on the KHLT Homestead Trail will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. A work party will meet at Rucksack Drive and Diamond Ridge Road trail head. Participants are asked to bring, water, lunch, tools and to dress for the weather. For more information about either event, call (907) 235-5263.
