After reading the article about Estin Borchgrevink getting only 19 years, 13 with good behavior, for molesting and beating a 2-year-old, I was appalled but not surprised.
Again the system has failed the victim. My goodness we should all be outraged that in a few short years this guy will be in the prime of his molesting life, right here on the Kenai Peninsula. Right here with you and your children.
I, for one, am mad. It makes me wonder what Judge Moran's reasoning was in giving such a light sentence to a man who in her own words, "shows no remorse."
The state worked hard to bring a case against this man and send a message to others that you will be punished to the full extent of the law. I feel the ruling let all of us, especially the child, down. It is like saying let's give him another chance. Another chance for what?
I would like to see some sort of program set up for warning the public when offenders such as Estin Borchgrevink are let out of jail. We need a heads up when violent sex offenders are let out on the streets so we can keep our kids safe.
