Kenai Elks help peninsula veterans
The Kenai Elks Lodge No. 2425 will hold its third annual Pro-Sports Celebrity Basketball Game on Saturday at the Kenai Central High School gymnasium.
The Elks team will be opposed by current Oakland Raiders linebackers Sammy Sword and Bobby Brooks; former Raiders wide receiver Cliff Branch; former Packers and Seahawks cornerback Dave Brown and Major League Baseball outfielder Bill North.
Proceeds from the basketball game will be used to help purchase a van for Kenai Peninsula veterans.
Tickets are available from Kenai Elks members or at the game. Adults are $15 in advance, with kids 14 and under being admitted two for $15. Family passes are available for $35 (admitting the entire immediate family). For more information, call the Elks event office at 283-4693.
Deadline nears for camp registration
The Soldotna Community Schools Summer Camp 2000 day-camp registration deadline is today. If sufficient registrations are not received by that time, the June Summer Camp session (June 19 to July 7) will be canceled.
The registration deadline for the July session (July 10 to July 28) is June 16.

KCHS reunion planned
The Kenai Central High School Class of 1970 reunion will be held Saturday and Sunday. A buffet dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Tides Inn in Soldotna. Cost is $15 per person.
A potluck will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kathy and Jeff Foster's home. For more information or to confirm reservations at the buffet dinner, call Ruth Denison at 283-8481.
Street fair applications available
Application for Homer's Summer Street Fair 2000 are now available. The fair will be held July 22 at the Homer High School commons and parking lot.
Previous vendors should have received their applications in the mail. New vendors and other interested parties should call the Arts Council office at (907) 235-4288 for information or pick up an application office entry at 3774 Bartlett St.
HIV testing offered
Planned Parenthood in Soldotna will provide HIV testing on June 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a walk-in basis. Testing is confidential, professional and free. For more information, call 262-2622.
