In September 1959, she and her two children, Glenna and Rick, flew from Salt Lake City to Anchorage to rejoin her husband, "Blackie" Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence had driven the Alaska Highway in May 1959, towing a 30-foot mobile home, along with the Glenn "Red" McCollum family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 20, Women of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Soldotna Elks Lodge No. 2706 and the Soldotna Lions Club. She served as senior vice president for the VFW Post No. 10046 Ladies Auxiliary and as an Alaska Judicial Observer. Over the years she volunteered her time to many organizations.

"Ann was a joy to all who met her. She was independent, loving and had a great sense of humor. Ann will be missed and loved by those who knew her," her family said.
