Posted: Friday, June 06, 2008

The Stars state tournament game scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday against North Pole was delayed after previous games ran long at Growden Memorial Park in Fairbanks.

The SoHi game was just getting underway as The Clarion went to press on Thursday night. Full results will be published in Sunday's edition.

In other state tournament baseball action, Juneau-Douglas, champions of the Southeast Conference, topped Dimond, 10-3; Southcentral Conference champion Colony advanced to the second round with a 16-12 win over West Valley; and three-time defending state champion Sitka knocked off previously unbeaten and Cook Inlet Conference champion Chugiak, 6-5, in 10 innings.

If the Stars win, they will take on Sitka at 7 p.m. today. A Stars' loss will pair them with Chugiak at 2 p.m. today.
