SKAGWAY (AP) -- A $3 million project expanding the cruise ship dock has been completed at this historic Gold Rush community.

The White Pass & Yukon Railroad says Skagway now can accommodate ships up to 1,000 feet in length. Work began on the dock in November and was finished last month.

South Coast Inc. of Ketchikan did the construction and Peratrovich, Nottingham & Drage of Seattle supervised the project.
