KETCHIKAN (AP) -- Ketchikan's acting police chief is now the real thing.
Grant Sirevog had been serving as acting chief since March. That's when former chief Dan Anslinger retired after 21 years with the department.
City officials hired Sirevog for the top job permanently June 2.
Sirevog is a 1979 graduate of Ketchikan High School.
Except for a four-month stint as an Alaska State Trooper in 1996, Sirevog has worked for the Ketchikan Police Department since 1983.
He trained at the Municipal Police Academy in Sitka, the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va., and the Northwest Law Enforcement Executive Command College in Washington State.
