Some areas lift burn ban for small piles.

As of Wednesday morning, the Kenai-Kodiak area of Alaska Division of Forestry has lifted the burning permit suspension for small permitted piles only.

However, burning is still not allowed in the Nikiski fire service area or within the city limits of Homer.

All fires must be on dirt and well away from trees, duff and brown grass. Precipitation has not penetrated to the protected areas beneath trees, and wild grass dries out rapidly.

Do not burn during windy conditions. Put the fire out cold before leaving it. Permittees must call each day to the burn permit call-in phone number listed on the permit before lighting a fire.
