Becker completes basic training

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Daniel G. Becker recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

During his six weeks of training, the Becker studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received instruction in physical training, rifle marksmanship, field exercises and human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Becker is the son of Dan and Shelly Becker of Soldotna. He is a 2000 graduate of Skyview High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2004 from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Ford graduates from college

Alden Ford of Kenai recently received his bachelor of arts degree in theater from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash.

He is the son of Larry and Carol Ford and attended Nikiski Middle-Senior High School.

Nikiski student selected as page

Paul Morin, a junior at Nikiski High School, has been selected to be a congressional page for Congressman Don Young. Morin will leave for Washington, D.C., this month. While there, he will perform various duties and also tour the capital.

He is the son of Phillip and Christine Morin of Kenai.

CPGH auxiliary announces scholarship winners

The Central Peninsula General Hospital Auxiliary recently awarded scholarships to Tatiana Ozhuwan of Soldotna High School and Shanda Dahlen of Nikiski High School. Both students will attend nursing school in the fall.
