JUNEAU (AP) -- Gov. Tony Knowles was scheduled to travel to Honolulu on Thursday for the summer meeting of the Western Governor's Association.
Meetings begin Sunday and run through Tuesday.
Knowles' spokeswoman Claire Richardson said the focus for the conference is the economy and technology.
Richardson said Microsoft Chief Operating Officer Mike Hurbald will address the governors. Hurbald also requested a half-hour meeting with Knowles on Sunday.
The Western Governors Association meets twice annually. The chief executives of 18 states and three territories are members.
Knowles served as chairman in 1998 and hosted the summer meeting at Girdwood.
