Commission Contest planned

The Arctic Council will meet in Barrow in October. To celebrate the meeting and organization, the council is looking for a design for the commemorative poster, with the assistance of Alaska State Council on the Arts. The winner of the submitted design will be awarded $1,000. The deadline for the design is close of business June 15.

The poster should depict the Arctic through an Alaskan eye, reflecting the rich natural and cultural heritage that Alaska offers. The selected Alaska artist will create a 16-by-21-inch piece in any media.

A committee appointed by the Arctic Council will make the final selection.
