Palmer No. 1 on Giants' depth chart

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. The No. 1 pick in the draft and the guy with two MVP trophies and a Super Bowl ring stood in the back when the New York Giants offense began its drills at minicamp Monday. Instead, ''The Bachelor'' led the way.

Jesse Palmer, who gained fame for his appearance on the reality TV show this summer, is currently the starting quarterback ahead of Eli Manning and Kurt Warner. No one expects that to last long, of course. But long enough for Palmer to impress new coach Tom Coughlin.

''He has responded very well to the coaching and to what he has been asked to do,'' Coughlin said. ''He is the guy who has really done a very good job of doing exactly what he has been coached to do.''

Becks will look good for Euro 2004

LISBON, Portugal Win or lose, David Beckham and his English teammates will be looking good at Euro 2004. They will be outfitted by Giorgio Armani for their formal and casual clothing during the June 12-July 4 tournament. The Italian designer is known for his elegant approach to fashion and said it fit the team's style.

''These young and talented players are more relaxed and fluid in the way they approach the game, and the coach, Sven-Goran Eriksson, encourages them to show their own flair,'' he said.
