Swim team tryouts begin

The Soldotna Silver Salmon swim team will hold open tryouts at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Soldotna High School pool. For more information, call 262-7419.

Players looking to clean up

Members of the Soldotna High School football team are looking for opportunities to earn money for football camp. Community members interested in helping out may call Sarge Truesdell at 262-1232 or e-mail him at sarge@kpbsd.k12.ak.us.

Multiple sclerosis group to meet

The multiple sclerosis support group will meet at noon Thursday at Coffee Concepts for a planning session. For more information, call Barb at 262-5030.

KPC council meeting slated

The Kenai Peninsula College Council will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in Room 132 at the Kenai River Campus. The public is encouraged to attend. For more information, call Cindy Finwall at 262-0318.

Golf tournament set

The Boys and Girls Club will host its 14th annual golf classic Friday at the Kenai Golf Course. Registration and breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the shotgun start begins at 8:30 a.m.

The entry fee for individual players is $100, hole sponsorships are $250 and par, birdie and eagle level sponsorships are $450, $650 and $1,000, respectively. For more information, Kim Lee 283-2682.

Home school book sale slated

The Soldotna home-school support group will host its fifth annual used curriculum and book sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. For more information, call 262-6282.

Unserviceable American flags sought

American Legion Post No. 20 will host a Flag Day ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the post on the corner of Main Street and Cook Avenue in Kenai.

The ceremony will feature the proper disposal of unserviceable American flags. The public is encouraged to attend.

Community members with flags for disposal may drop them off at the post. For more information, call 283-3222.

Hearing, vision screening available

The Frontier Community Services Early Intervention Program will offer a free hearing and vision screening clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20 at its office. Children ages birth to 3 years are eligible to participate. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 262-3144, ext. 227.
