K-Beach blood drive set for Saturday

The Blood Bank of Alaska Kenai Peninsula Center in conjunction with the Kalifonsky Christian Center will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the church on Kalifornsky Beach Road. Those participating should drink lots of caffeine-free liquids and eat a good meal before donating.

Tool, fire-making demonstration to be Saturday

The Captain Cook State Recreation Area will present a demonstration by Larry and Ethan Ford on how tools can be made from rocks and how to start fires without matches, as done by early Native Americans.

The program is from 7 to 8 p.m. at the interpretive center near site 15 at the Discovery Campground in Captain Cook State Recreation Area at the end of the Kenai Spur Highway.

KCHS reunion planned

The Kenai Central High School Class of 1970 reunion will be held Saturday and Sunday. A buffet dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Tides Inn in Soldotna. Cost is $15 per person.

A potluck will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kathy and Jeff Foster's home. For more information or to confirm reservations at the buffet dinner, call Ruth Denison at 283-8481.

Swimming lessons available at SoHi

The Soldotna High School swimming pool is now taking registration for its summer swimming lessons. Classes are held Monday through Friday and cost $30 for a set of 10 lessons. Classes start June 19 and July 3. Because of limited class space, preregistration is recommended. For more information, call 262-7419.
