Motorcyclist killed in Anchorage after hitting curb

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A motorcyclist died after he lost control of his motorcycle on an Anchorage street, police said.

Robert E. Watson, 36, died at the scene of the accident shortly before 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Watson was speeding on Bragaw Street when he changed lanes and lost control of the motorcycle, police said. Witnesses told police Watson struck a curb and flew off the bike, hitting a pole near a bus stop.

The motorcycle skidded along the road, stopping about 40 yards away.

Watson was not wearing a helmet and suffered massive head injuries.
