Hope fundraiser set

The annual Walk and Roll for Hope fundraiser will be held Saturday at the Hope Community Resources office at 43335 Kalifornsky Beach Road, Suite 27. Registration will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Proceeds will benefit peninsula residents who experience a developmental disability. Participants may walk, run, bike or rollerblade. Pledge forms are available at the Hope office or online at www.hopealaska.org. Detailed route information is available on pledge sheets. Food, games, prizes and a drum blessing are some of the planned activities. For more information and time of the event, call 260-9469.

Peace group to meet

People for Peace and Justice will meet at 7 p.m. Saturday at River City Books in Soldotna. For more information, call 262-5447.

Foster care, adoption workshops available

The Office of Children’s Services offers the monthly resource family orientations to give interested individuals a brief overview of the state’s foster care and adoption programs and processes. For more information, call Holly or Allison at 283-3136.

Swim lessons to make a splash

The Soldotna High School pool will begin its summer schedule Monday. Its hours of operation will be: lap swim from 2 to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; open swim from 2 to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; and pool rentals on request. The cost of admission is $3 per individual or $25 for a punch card (10 punches). The pool rental cost is $35 per hour with one guard.

Swim lessons will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 5:30 p.m. daily. Lessons will be 10 40-minute sessions for levels two through five and 10 25-minute sessions for level one. Lesson dates are Monday, June 26 (eight sessions only), July 10 and July 24. The cost for lessons is $40 or $10 per hour for private lessons. For more information, call 262-7419.

NPRSA events set

The following events are scheduled in Nikiski beginning Monday: The Nikiski Community Recreation Center is offering adult open gym from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays; the teen center will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the recreation center; and mixed martial arts classes will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Moose chapter kick-off set

The North American Moose Foundation Chapter No. 3 will host it kick-off at 6 p.m. June 17 at the Soldotna Sports Center. Dinner, live and silent auctions, door prizes and games are some of the planned events. The cost is $50 per person, $75 per couple, $100 per couple with $50 worth of raffle tickets and $15 for youth. There are 250 tickets available and are presold only. A Moose family membership is included with every ticket purchased.
