On June 4, Kristy Wisniewski and Jim Hayes of Toledo, Ohio along with Kristy’s parent’s Tom and Karen Wisniewski, also of Toledo, decided to hike Skyline Trail on the Kenai Peninsula with Kristy’s cousins Lacey, Grant and Justin Wisniewski, who they came to visit in Kenai.
The day was cold and windy and the hike was nothing like they expected but with much anticipation and a grueling upward hike, they made it to the top of Skyline.
Neither Kristy, nor any of the other members of the party had any clue that Jim was going to propose. When they were on top the stage was set. Jim presented Kristy with a ring and proposed marriage to her. It was a very emotional moment and then she accepted and said yes.
On top of the world they will never forget the breathtaking moment of where they expressed their love for each other. “You mean we have to hike here after our 50th anniversary?” stated exhausted engaged couple.
Kristy and Jim have been dating for four years. Kristy a recent graduate from University of Pennsylvania Dental School and is now serving as a captain in the U.S. Army in Tacoma, Wash. Jim is pursuing his doctorate degree in computer engineering and is currently exploring positions in the Washington area.
A wedding date has not been set as of yet, stating that they have not had any time to discuss further plans.
