Successful breakfast earns many thanks

Posted: Wednesday, June 10, 2009

To all of you who had the pleasure of attending the Ninilchik Emergency Services pancake breakfast on Memorial Day weekend, thank you for your support.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank some of the people who went above and beyond to help put this event together; Fred Meyer, for their donation of a gift card; On Demand, who delivered our meat at no charge; Jeff and Mary Berger, who ordered the meat and obtained our DEC permit; the Tanners, who were kind enough to let us store supplies in their coolers; Alaska's Best Water, for their donation of bottled water; Tag's Rod and Reel repair; and to the Buzz -- without them I wouldn't been able to function every morning. And to any other commercial sponsors I may have missed, thank you.

Thanks also to some of our community members who went beyond the call of duty to help; the Kit Pherson family, who helped set up, take down and serve; Pat Togni, who helped me shop, set up and take down; Pat's husband Warren, who helped for two days and even came in on their wedding anniversary to help; Steve Vanek family, who helped cover the bases and cleanup on the last day; Debra Henderson, who created and donated our wonderful quilt to be raffled; Becky Hamilton and her daughter-in-law; the Baptist Church group, who came and helped Saturday and Monday; Ed Harper, Ruth and William B. and Tom and Phyllis McM, who have volunteered their help so many times; the young people of our community, who lent their hands to serving, cleaning, etc.; and finally, my wonderful mom and husband, Craig.

I couldn't have done this project without all of these people, and if I forgot anyone, I apologize. You know who you are and you are greatly appreciated. So once again thank you, everyone, for all of your help.

A special thanks goes to the Kenai Peninsula State Fairgrounds for allowing us to use their facilities for this annual event.

Most of all, a big thank you to our community for having breakfast with us and supporting this very important service.
