Musher Doug Swingley tallies most world cup distance miles

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Montana musher and four-time Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race champion Doug Swingley has racked up the most Long-Distance World Cup points this year.

The International Federation of Sled Dog Sports said Swingley's victories in the Iditarod and Grand Portage sled dog races were good for 1,240 points.

European musher Robert Soerlie ranked second with 1,185 points collected in the Finmark and Femund races in Scandinavia.

Rounding out the top 10 were European Kjetil Backen, Jeff King of Denali Park, Rick Swenson of Two Rivers, John Baker of Kotzebue, Norwegian Roger Dahl, Paul Gebhardt of Kasolif, Hans Gatt of British Columbia and European Rune Johansen.
