Land trust plans Kasilof tour

The Kachemak Heritage Land Trust offers a Kasilof Historic Tour from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday.

Participants should meet at Kasilof Mercantile and join teacher-historian Terri Carter to learn about early Native life on the Kenai Peninsula, see the site of a watchman's cabin for the first cannery in the area and visit the Victor Holm cabin, home of a 19th century Alaska pioneer. Participants may bring a lunch to enjoy after the tour.

Programs are $10 per person or $20 per family. Proceeds benefit KHLT land conservation on the Kenai Peninsula. For more information, call 235-5263.

Challenger Center offers Rocket Academy

The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska offers a Rocket Academy for young people Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rocket Academy students will design, build and launch rockets, perform flight calculations and collect and compare data. Relay for Life meeting is Tuesday

This year's last Relay for Life meeting will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Central Peninsula General Hospital. Team captains and anyone else with an interest are invited.

Progress Days spaces available

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce has vendor spaces available for its Progress Days celebration, which will be July 28. A full day of activities and entertainment is planned. Interested persons can pick up contracts at the chamber office or call 262-9814 for more information.

Star of the North Church plans Bible school

The Star of the North Church at 216 Forest Drive in Kenai will present Polar Expedition Vacation Bible School. A picnic by the armory is scheduled for 1 p.m. June 24. Bible school will run June 25-29 from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information or to register, stop by the church or call 283-4153.

Nikiski '91 reunion planned

A 10-year reunion for Nikiski's class of 1991 is being planned for the weekend of Aug. 3-5. Soldotna chamber plans 'Pop Drop'

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce Merchant's Committee will hold its annual Pop Drop for Father's Day this Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Bailey's Furniture parking lot. Ping pong balls containing discounts from local merchants will be dropped from the Central Emergency Services ladder truck. Ping pong balls are available to merchants at a cost of $25 for 25 balls by calling the chamber at 262-9814.
