Youth summit planned

The Alaska Youth Summit, slated for Oct. 19 through 22 at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, will seek to bring young people from across the state together to develop recommendations for change to help youth realize their hopes and dreams.

Participants will be exposed to important data about the problems that confront their peers and some ideas for improving their circumstances, and they will be the responsible parties to carry the ideas back to their peers in their communities. Five participants will deliver the recommendations of the summit to government officials in Juneau and Washington, D.C.

Alaska students who will be juniors and seniors in the upcoming school year are encouraged to apply. Applications are available at Applications are due by July 15. Participants will be notified by Aug. 31.
