North Road Wrestling Club extends gratitude to community

Posted: Wednesday, June 11, 2003

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all who helped make the North Road Wrestling Club's Fiesta Night fund-raiser such a wonderful success. So many individuals and businesses contributed that it has taken a while to compile the many lists of who did what, and we apologize if any business or individual's name was inadvertently left out of this compilation, as we truly do appreciate all who extended themselves on our team's behalf. More than $3,00 was raised, helping to pay for the 27 athletes who went to state, the expenses of some of the volunteer coaching staff, the four wrestlers who are going to regionals and the many other myriad expenses that come with running an athletic team.

We especially would like to thank the North Kenai Baptist Church for graciously allowing us to use its facility, and Norm and Barb Blakeley of Blakeley's Auction Co. for their competent services. Without these, we would not have been nearly as successful, and we're grateful for the tremendous aid they afforded us.

Kudos to the following generous businesses and individuals who donated food for the meal and prizes for the various auctions: Ted Hursh, Alaska Gift and Gallery, Sweeney's, AA Dan's Construction Inc., Three Bears, Olga's, Bare Threads, Haircutters, Kelly Harrington Reilly, Stay Tan, Charlotte's Restaurant, Bear Paw Cafe, Kenai Merit Inn, Petal Pushers, Station Break, Corporate Express, Alma Burns, U.S. Marine Corps Recruiter, Peterkin Distributors, Kenai Chrysler, The Forelands, Tina's Too Angie Young, NAPA Auto Parts, Steve's Chevron, Espresso Barn, Country Foods, Patty Mann and Mac McQueen, Uptown Motel, C&M Muffler, Great Northern Video, The Ceramic Shop, Ruben's International, Nero's Pizza, De Lars, Jan Feller, Sugar Magnolias, Nikiski Hair and Nails, Beemun's, U.S. Army Recruiting Station, Hunger Hut, Anderson Enterprises and R&K Industrial.

We also would like to thank all the parents and friends who helped do everything necessary to accomplish this fund-raiser, including soliciting prizes and food, making desserts, setting up and decorating, cooking, helping out wherever necessary and cleaning up. A special note of thanks to Courtney Dukowitz, Christy Fucci and Sheri Sullens for your help with the setting up, Chinese auction and baby-sitting.

And a huge thank you to all the many community members who came and hopefully enjoyed the all-you-can-eat taco buffet and purchased all of the great prizes that had been donated. We couldn't have done it without all the awesome support from our local communities, families, friends and neighbors. Your contributions of time, money and support to our North Road Wrestling team are appreciated more than you'll know.
