Nikiski business, churches support school programs

Posted: Friday, June 11, 2004

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bear Paw Coffee Shop and Deli and the Nikiski area churches for their support of two programs held at North Star Elementary this past school year.

Bear Paw was instrumental in supplying a potpourri of delicious cookies to our Story and a Snack program held every Friday morning for students from grades kindergarten through sixth. The students clearly enjoyed these snacks.

Denver Copeland, pastor of Lighthouse Community Church, worked in conjunction with John Henry from North Star Methodist and Dale Lloyd from Inlet Faith to serve breakfast to our students every morning. Retha Hall organized a great number of parents and community volunteers to prepare and provide these nutritious breakfasts. Students worked harder each day because of the food they ate in the morning.

Thank you, Bear Paw and local churches, for your continued support! Students, parents and staff at North Star Elementary applaud you!
