Church group garage sale slated

The youth group of Peninsula Grace Brethren Church is conducting a garage sale in the church gym at 44175 Kalifornsky Beach Road. The sale will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Proceeds from the sale will help students attend the Brethren National Youth Conference in LaCrosse, Wis.

Race unity day planned

Relating to the Baha'i teaching: "Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch," Baha'u'llah race unity will be celebrated at Soldotna Creek Park behind Don Jose's in Soldotna at 5 p.m. Saturday.

People are encouraged to contribute to the diversity of devotional prayers, stories, writings and music. Traditional cultural dress and food are welcome for a potluck barbecue at 6 p.m. For more information, call 283-6650.

Matrix meeting coming up

The theme of the monthly Matrix Church service at 4:30 p.m. Sunday is "Choosing sides for baseball."

Phoebe, who is now unemployed, volunteers to play short stop with no talent or experience, Kermit coaches, and Dr. Phil will be the "emotional healer." Specials include the Praise-n-Kids line dance and special puppet music from the Kenai New Life puppet team.

Matrix Church meets the second Sunday of each month at Peninsula Christian Center behind The Salvation Army store on the Kenai Spur Highway in Soldotna.

Noted Jewish speakers to visit

A supporter of the Messianic Jewish Movement and a Jewish World Office youth director will speak to a number of central Kenai Peninsula churches during June.

Don Finto, Messianic movement supporter and advocate for godly unity across all denominations and races, and Kay Hudgins, director of the Jewish World Office of Youth With a Mission, are being presented by MoAdim Messianic Fellowship.

Finto will address the fellowship Saturday at the Kenai Merit Inn from 10:45 a.m. to noon, and he and Hudgins will address the group from 2 to 5 p.m. the same day.

Finto also will speak Sunday at 11 a.m. at Kenai New Life Assembly and at 6:30 p.m. at Kasilof Community Church. Hudgins will speak at the Church of the Nazarene in Nikiski at 10:45 a.m. June 20 and at Birch Ridge Community Church at 11 a.m. June 27.

Finto has served as co-chair of the pastors' committee in the June 2000 Billy Graham meetings in Nashville and was one of the founders of Teen Challenge in that city. He is author of the book, "Your People Shall Be My People."

Hudgins has been involved in the 80 Nations Project developing Jewish ministry within YWAM in Ukraine, Kiev and Brazil.

Music of India to be featured

The Gospel Messengers Team from India, led by Tony Anthony, will be at Kalifonsky Christian Center on June 19 and 20.

The group offers praise and worship of Jesus Christ with Indian classical music and Bible skits. Service times are 7 p.m. June 19 and 10:30 a.m. June 20.

God and Country Rally planned

The 13th annual God and Country Rally is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 27 at the Soldotna High School auditorium. This year's rally features a choir performing patriotic music and a media presentation titled "Spirit of America."

Special recognition will be given to all branches of the military. Don Argue, president of Northwest College in Kirkland, Wash., will be the featured speaker. Argue was an U.S. presidential appointee and adviser on human rights and is a past president of the National Association of Evangelicals.

The purpose of the rally is to honor all veterans and recognize God's blessings on the nation. For more information call 262-7416.

Judaism workshop planned

A "Taste of Judaism Workshop" will be hosted by Briat Elohim at 4 p.m. July 17 at the Kenai River Center near the Soldotna Airport.
