Tragic night for moose

Posted: Thursday, June 11, 2009

It was a bad night on West Poppy. I saw the twin moose calves in the back yard again as they have been there on an off for the past month with a very large cow.

They were by themselves tonight, so I tried to herd them to the back of the woods until the cow showed up. Then I turned around and saw a trooper. I told him what I was up to and he told me the cow would not be back as it was dead in the woods across the street. He gave me an idea on what was going to happen next.

I went home and turned the stereo on high so I wouldn't hear anything.

If the cow died on its own, it is a very sad part of nature. If it died some other way, someone should feel very guilty.

As I did not here anything, I can think that somehow things turned OK for the twin moose.
