This is a special thank you to Soldotna City Manager Larry Semmens, Mayor Peter Micciche and the entire unanimous voting Soldotna City Council for their unwavering support and persistence regarding the planned expansion of the Joyce K. Carver Memorial Public Library.
The city's acquisition on May 29 of the adjacent property to the library has made it feasible to complete the conceptual design options for the planned library expansion, and probably assures the library will never ever have to be relocated in the future.
It is rare to witness public servants with such vision. We, Friends of the Library Board, and we, the Soldotna Library Board, are truly grateful to all of our library friends, who have made this planned expansion possible. Even though there is much yet to be done, it really couldn't have begun without this property acquisition.
We also want to thank Phil Hermanek and the Peninsula Clarion for its coverage, and Phil's many insightful newspaper articles about our library and its social events.
The greater Soldotna community is truly indebted to you all. Thank you.
