JUNEAU (AP) -- The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of a mobile home fire that killed a 3-year-old Klawock girl Saturday.
Brooke Williams was at home with her mother, Michelle Williams, and her brother when the fire broke out shortly before 7 a.m.
Her mother and brother escaped the burning home. A neighbor rescued Brooke by climbing through a broken window.
Klawock Police Lt. Ken Weimer said the child suffered second and third degree burns over most of her body.
She was flown to a Ketchikan hospital and then transferred to a Seattle hospital, where she died Saturday night, Weimer said.
The fire damaged electric lines and temporarily knocked out power to much of Prince of Wales Island.
