ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A Kotlik toddler was found drowned Monday.

Victoria Williams, 2, was found in the Kotlik Slough.

Kotlik, a village of about 600, is 165 miles northwest of Bethel and 460 miles northwest of Anchorage.

The child was reported missing at about 2 p.m. Troopers said the girl wandered away from her family's home and entered the slough about 40 feet away.

The girl's mother, Irene Williams, 27, told troopers the child had been missing only about five minutes.

Villagers launched a search and a family member found the child about 20 minutes later.

A trooper from Saint Mary's responded to the scene.
