Education to be topic at chamber meeting
The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will meet today at noon at Paradisos Restaurant. Carrie Burford, a financial aid coordinator and recruitment specialist for Kenai Peninsula College, and Sen. Jerry Ward, R-Nikiski, will speak.
CARTS meeting slated

Wacky Wednesday program to be held
The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska Kenai Peninsula's Wacky Wednesday program features rocket launches, robot designing and bridge building today. Library sale planned
The Kenai Community Library's Friends of the Library Book Sale will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library. PenDOG garage sale set for Saturday
Members of the Peninsula Dog Obedience Group will hold a garage sale Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the club, Mile 1 of the Kenai Spur Highway in the front half of the Richards Veterinary Clinic building. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the club.
Vendors sought for Trash and Treasure sale
Tables and parking lot space are available for the Sterling Senior Citizens Center's annual Trash and Treasures sale June 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the center. Tables cost $15 each; space in the parking lot is $10. To reserve a spot, call 262-6808.
AARP offers defensive driving
The AARP will offer a defensive driving class June 21 and 22 at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road. The class, previously announced as June 20 and 21, is open to people age 50 and older. Cost is $10 for materials. Completion of the course may allow drivers to have a ticket dismissed or two points taken off their driving records. Quilting fair to be held

Swim team seeking members
The Soldotna Silver Salmon Swim Team is looking for children ages 6 or older who can swim one length of the pool to join the team. Practices are held Monday through Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Skyview High School pool while the Soldotna High School pool is closed.
