HOUSTON (AP) -- Continental Airlines will inaugurate two new routes Wednesday from this Texas city, one to Anchorage and the other to Oakland.

This marks the first time that Houston has had nonstop service to either city.

Service to Anchorage will be operated seasonally with a 183-seat Boeing 757-200, configured to 24 first-class seats and 159 coach seats.

Flying time is approximately seven hours. That's the second longest domestic flight from Houston, behind Honolulu, which is approximately eight hours.

Continental Airlines is the fifth largest airline in the U.S., offering more than 2,200 departures daily to 136 domestic and 87 international destinations.

Continental operates major hubs in Newark, Houston and Cleveland.
