A Kenai teen was killed in a car accident on the Seward Highway on Friday when he was ejected from the car he was riding in.
Jesse Willard, 16, was the front seat passenger in a 1992 Subaru driven by Adriann Baker, 17, of Nikiski. Two other passengers were in the car, but their names have not been released.
According to an Alaska State Trooper report, Baker was at Mile 96 of the Seward Highway between Girdwood and Anchorage when she became distracted and the vehicle swerved into the southbound lane.
Willard reportedly grabbed the wheel and steered the car toward the guardrail.
Baker overcorrected and again steered into the southbound lane, this time hitting a 2003 Dodge pickup truck.
Willard was ejected from the Subaru and died at the scene. Lucas Stuart, 30, of Ninilchik, was driving the Dodge.
He reportedly saw the Subaru swerving and tried to avoid the collision, but couldn't.
Stuart, Baker and the other passengers were transported to Anchorage hospitals.
Information on their conditions was not available Saturday, though Stuart was still hospitalized at Providence Alaska Medical Center.
The Seward Highway was completely to partially closed for more than three hours following the accident.
Troopers are continuing their investigation.
