Challenger Center sets camp schedule

Space Science Camp is an overnight camp for children ages 10 to 12. Participants will experience a range of science topics related to the study of space. Topics will include rocketry, flight, robotics, microgravity, light and energy, as well as the solar system. Participants also will assemble models and test theories. The camp will be offered in three sessions: Monday to June 18, July 12 to 16 and Aug. 9 to 13. The cost is $300 or $60 per day for those who don't stay overnight.
Flight Overnight is a one-night camp offered for children ages 10 to 13. Students will have workshops Friday night and Saturday morning, then fly a "Voyage to Mars" or "Rendezvous with a Comet" mission Saturday. The camp will be offered June 25-26, July 9-10, July 23-24 and Aug. 6-7. The cost is $125 or $60 per day for those who don't stay overnight.
Young Astronauts Program is a day camp for children ages 7 to 9. Classes will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon on select Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer. Robotics classes will be offered June 22, July 6 and 20 and Aug. 3. Rocketry classes will be offered June 24, July 8 and 22 and Aug. 5.
Space Odyssey Week is an overnight camp for children ages 12 to 14. Participants will train like NASA astronauts, studying robotics, space physiology and microgravity environments. A special session by dive masters also will be used to simulate buoyancy. There will be two sessions of this camp offered: June 28 to July 2 and July 26 to 30. The cost is $300 or $60 per day for those who don't stay overnight.
Red Cross tournament set
The American Red Cross will hold it 13th annual golf classic, barbecue and auction fund-raiser July 3 at the Birch Ridge Golf Course in Soldotna. Sponsors, volunteers and players are being sought for the event. For more information, to volunteer or register, call 262-4541.
