National flag disposal planned today

The American Legion George H. Plumbley Memorial Post No. 20 will host a dignified disposal of unserviceable national flags at 6 p.m. today at the Legion Hall at 902 Cook St. in Kenai. The community is invited to attend. For more information, call Bill Bartlett at 283-3222.

Running club meets Mondays

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area running club for children in grades seventh and older meet at 6 p.m. Mondays until Sept. 27. The club will run on the Nikiski Middle-Senior High School track and trails. Lori Manion and Heather Gains will instruct.

Basketball camps slated

The Winning With Christ Sports Camps will host a basketball camp from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday at Soldotna Bible Chapel for children in grades four through six and from noon to 2:30 p.m. for children in grades seven through 10. The cost is $75. Applications are available at the chapel or a half hour before the session begins on the day of camp. For more information, call Rob Dimick at 262-5095.

Kenai Wild training planned

The Cook Inlet Salmon Brand Inc. Kenai Wild Brand will hold training for fishers wishing to participate in the program at 10 a.m., 2 and 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Economic Development District conference room at 14790 Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai. This training session is for fishers who have not participated before. Additional training seminars will be provided by each participating Kenai Wild processor.

Bug walk set

The Cooperative Extension Services 4-H and the IPM programs will have a bug walk at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson Lake. The group will meet in the large grassy field by the parking lot. Topics will cover what bugs eat; how do bugs survive the winter; and how are bugs beneficial.

Hobo Jim concert schedule changed

Alaska's official balladeer Hobo Jim's concert schedule has changed from its original time of 3 p.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. He will preform a variety of songs regarding life in Alaska.

Bake sale fund-raiser slated

The ABC Crises Pregnancy Center will have a bake sale fund-raiser from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 26 at the Safeway in Soldotna. For more information, call Marie Clausen at 283-7084.
