ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Bob Malone, president and CEO of Alyeska Pipeline Service Co., has been named BP Amoco's regional president for the Western United States, Alyeska announced Wednesday.
Malone served as Alyeska's president for four years.
''Diane and I have enjoyed calling Alaska home and we will miss all the friends we have made over the years,'' Malone said. His new job is based in Los Angeles.
Alyeska Senior Vice President Dan Hisey has been named chief operating officer and will act as president and CEO until a new president can be named. A search is underway for Malone's replacement.
During his tenure, Malone gained the reputation as a reformer who worked to establish a more open culture in which whistleblowers with safety concerns could come forward. He also changed the relationship between the TAPS Owners Committee and the company.
''We have appreciated Bob's leadership and his unflagging commitment to the success of Alyeska and its employees, as well as the significant improvements that have been made during his tenure,'' said Dick Rabinow, president of ExxonMobil Pipeline Company and chairman of the TAPS Owners Committee.
