ADEC to discuss cleanup actionsP>

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation will host a public meeting in Soldotna from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly chambers to discuss the proposed cleanup actions associated with the River Terrace Recreational Vehicle Park.

A decision regarding the proposed cleanup will not be made until the public comment period ends on June 26, and all comments are reviewed and considered.

Summer interpretive programs continue

Dena'ina Heritage Day, a part of the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center Summer Interpretive Programs, will feature Bernadine Atchison of the Kenaitze Indian Tribe speaking about the meaning and purpose of the potlatch ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday at the center.

Moose Pass festival is this weekend

The Moose Pass Summer Solstice Festival, sponsored by the Moose Pass Sportsmen's Club, will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Proceeds will help maintain the Moose Pass Community Hall, the fire department and the library and support community programs.

Heritage Land Trust raft trip slated

Guides from Alaska Wildland Adventures will guide two rafts from the Kenai Lake through the Kenai canyon to Skilak Lake Friday to benefit the Kachemak Heritage Land Trust.

Run for the sun scheduled

The city of Kenai's Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring its fifth annual Solstice Fun Run or Walk at 10 p.m. Saturday in Old Town Kenai. On-site registration will be at 9 p.m. Saturday or forms may be picked up at the Kenai Recreation Center. The event is free. T-shirts are $15. For more information, call 283-3855.

Genealogy research help session to be offered

The Kenai Totem Tracers Genealogy Society is hosting a genealogy research help session from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the conference room at the Kenai Community Library. Tracy Miller will be available to assist people in tracing their family tree.

Realtors to hold luncheon meeting Friday

The Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors will hold its monthly membership meeting at noon Friday at the Riverside House in Soldotna.

Guest speaker will be Dean Kvasnikoff, member of the Kenai Peninsula Brown Bear Stakeholders Group. A lunch buffet will be served.

Free retirement concert to honor Marge Hays

The students and friends of Marge Hays will present a retirement concert in her honor. The event will be from 7 to 10 p.m. June 23 at Charlotte's Restaurant in Kenai.
