Quakes shake Aleutians

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Three earthquakes occurred in the Aleutians Thursday, but there were no reports of any damage or injuries.

The Alaska Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer said the largest was a magnitude 6.5 that occurred at 11:49 a.m. That quake was centered about 85 miles southeast of Amchitka Island.

The Alaska Earthquake Information center said an earlier quake had a magnitude of five-point-four and occurred at 5:39 a.m. It was centered about 61 miles southeast of Amchitka.

The third quake was centered about 72 miles southeast of Amchitka. That quake occurred at 12:01 p.m. and had a magnitude of 5.
