Volunteers made bike ride roll smoothly

Posted: Thursday, June 15, 2006

At the end of the school year we took 35 Kenai Middle School students for a bike ride on the Unity Trail Loop. We would like to thank the following people for volunteering their time to help us have a safe and fun ride: Carl Glick, Bob Green, Jim Hoover, Mike Shane, Brian Wilkes, Preston Williams and Alex Zerbinos of the Kenai Peninsula Gold Wing Road Riders Association who escorted us safely across Bridge Access Road and alerted the traffic to our presence.

We would also like to thank Officer Tony Garcia of the Soldotna Police Department and the bridge construction workers who helped us cross the Sterling Highway without incident. And thank you to James Slone who took time off work to ride the entire loop with us and repair many bicycles during the trip.

Thank you for giving of your time for our kids. They had a memorable ride thanks to each of you.
