The Division of Forestry Kenai office has suspended open burning. The suspension prohibits open burning of brush, grass and yard de-bris.

Campfires are allowed during permit suspensions, individuals must adhere to Alaska laws. The fire must be surrounded by a fire break that is clear of all vegetation. Water for extinguishment must be on site and the fire must be attended to until it is completely out.

The department reminds campers to make every effort to extinguish campfires and people seeing someone leave a fire burning should report the individual to the Alaska Division of Forestry at 260-4222.
