Anchorage man rescued after suffering stroke and falling

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A hiker who suffered a stroke and fell had to be rescued Sunday from a trail just south of Anchorage.

Michael Handle, 52, fell about eight feet while hiking along Falls Creek, near Mile 106 of the Seward Highway shortly before 4 p.m., Alaska State Troopers said.

Anchorage fire and Rescue and a rescue helicopter from the Alaska National Guard responded.

Troopers said Handle was taken to an Anchorage hospital.
