SITKA (AP) -- A kayaker was located by a Coast Guard helicopter early Monday after being reported overdue a day earlier, the Coast Guard said.

Theresa Goddard, 41 of Sitka, was spotted at about 3:10 a.m. paddling in Deep Inlet near Sitka, said Coast Guard spokesman Russ Tippets.

Goddard was reported missing Sunday night after she failed to arrive in Whale Park. She was last seen at about 6 p.m. Sunday on Indian River, the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard said Goddard was uninjured.
