ANCHORAGE (AP) -- An Anchorage homeless shelter has received a $500,000 matching grant toward its rebuilding effort.

The Brother Francis Shelter has received $500,000 from the Rasmuson Foundation, matching the $500,000 grant approved by the state Legislature.

Officials with Catholic Social Services, which operates the shelter, say that most of the $4.3 million needed for the project has been raised. The remaining funds are expected to be raised in a campaign over the next year.

The new shelter will be built 50 feet north of where the current shelter stands, near downtown Anchorage.
