Nikiski resident LaWanda Lee Davidson died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Central Peninsula General Hospital. She was 58.
A memorial service is planned for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Davidson was born July 26, 1943, in Washington and moved to Alaska in 1975, settling in Nikiski. She was the owner and manager of Alaska Marine Services. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, camping, doing puzzles, spending time with her family and her poodles, Ginger and Baby.
"LaWanda was the least selfish person we have ever known. She put others first. Even during her illness, she was able to maintain her compassion for helping others, and she placed their wants and needs before her own and she never complained," her family said.
Mrs. Davidson was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and brothers, John and Larry.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jim Davidson; sons, James Allen and Steven Anthony of Washington; daughter, Michelle Elizabeth of Kenai; four granddaughters, Lauren and Jessica of Palouse, Wash., and Carrisa and Hannah of Naches, Wash.; sisters, Nita, Donna, Wilma, Patty and Aldena; and brothers, Bill, Wayne and Van.
