The LeeShore Center offers help to homeless women and children and victims of domestic violence and sexual assault through its Transitional Living Center. For more information, call 283-2069.

Annual luau gets cooking

The Soldotna Senior Citizens Center will host its annual luau at 5 p.m. Saturday at the center. A Hawaiian menu is planned. Entertainment, door prizes and a raffle for two tickets for a bear flightseeing trip are planned. Tickets are by advance purchase. The cost of admission is $18 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under. For more information, call 262-2322.

Seniors to honor dads

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center will host an all-you-can-eat Father's Day buffet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the center on Island Lake Road, one mile off the Kenai Spur Highway. The cost is $8 for adults and $1 per year for children ages 8 and younger.

Hearing, vision screening available

The Frontier Community Services Early Intervention program will offer a free hearing and vision screening clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at its office. Children ages birth to 3 years are eligible to participate.

Clothes Closet plans closure

The LeeShore Center's Clothes Closet will be closed from Monday to July 5 for remodeling. After July 5 it will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays. For more information, call 283-9479.

Barbecue fund-raiser set

The Sterling Senior Center will host its 15th annual barbecue fund-raiser from 4 to 8 p.m. June 25. Ribs, chicken, baked beans, salad, garlic bread and dessert will be served. Door prizes, a silent auction and a bake sale are some of the planned activities.

Admission is $12.50 for adults or $5 for children ages 3 to 12.

Summer reading program continues

Registration for the Soldotna Public Library summer reading program titled "Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds" continues through July 15. The program is in progress, but area children are encouraged to begin at any time.

Parade entries, vendors sought

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for Fourth of July Parade entries and vendor booths. The theme for the parade is "The Spirit of Dipnetting on the Kenai."
