Program gives peninsula kids chance to get hooked on fishing

Posted: Wednesday, June 18, 2003

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who donated rods and reels, money and/or time to make the "Hooked on Fishing" program a great success for its second year. Donations and support from national tackle manufacturers, local business people and residents of the Soldotna-Kenai area plus the hard work from a dedicated group of volunteers, made it possible to give away 105 rods and reels to our local children at the Kenai River Festival on June 14.

The "Hooked on Fishing" program is a joint effort of the Kenai Boys' and Girls' Club and the Kenai River Sportfishing Association. We are looking forward to having the same program next year and would appreciate any and all the help we can get. To participate call 262-8588 and leave a message for Bix Bonney or Dave Lowery.

Thanking you all again, Bix Bonney and Dave Lowery, co-chairs "Hooked on Fishing" program Brett Huber, executive director Kenai River Sportfishing Association

Applause letters should recognize public-spirited service and contributions. Personal thank-you notes will not be published.
