Art winners announced

The Kenai Fine Arts Center announce the results of the People's Choice votes for the "Small Shots Exhibit" displayed at the center in May are: first place tie -- Lisa Coates for "Redoubt," DeAnn Coins for "Holding On," Bill Heath for "Gestures" and Teresa Napolitano "Mulch"; second place tie -- Celia Helen Cash for "Papillion" and William Heath for "Hydra"; third place tie -- Lucretia Carter for "Rain on Planes," Lisa Coates for "Redoubt" and Anita D. Kane Heath for "Nautilus Dreams."

Art classes available

The Nikiski Community Rec Center holds arts and crafts class from 4 to 5:15 p.m. Fridays at the center. Youth in grades one through six may participate. Preregistration is not required. The cost is $3 a class. For more information, call 776-8800.

Art classes continue

The Kenai Fine Arts Center offers disciplined based art education classes for youth in grades kindergarten through sixth. Classes are two-week sessions and held Monday and Saturdays on July 6,11,13,18 and July 20,25,27 and Aug. 1.

Senior center seeks art

The Soldotna Senior Citizens Center is seeking artists to display artwork at the center for a month at a time, beginning in 2010. Artists will be responsible for putting art up and taking it down.

Kids' reading program continues

Triumvirate Bookstore in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna is hosting a Frequent Reading Program.

Kids may sign up at the bookstore, pick out one free book, a reading calendar and program rules.

Bookstore hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
