KODIAK (AP) -- A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing of a Kodiak police officer, Alaska State Troopers report.

Joseph Hancock, 22, was arrested and taken into custody at the Kodiak airport Saturday. He was released to his parents on Monday.

Hancock is charged with first-degree assault.

Dexter Christensen, 21, is in jail on other charges. A third suspect, Richard Bennett, 25, remains at large. An arrest warrant has been issued charging him with attempted murder.

Troopers say the men were involved in a confrontation with off-duty Kodiak police officer Terry Ash outside his home on June 6. The officer was struck several times in the head with a flashlight and stabbed repeatedly.
