ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Gov. Tony Knowles signed a bill Tuesday that creates an endowment to repair and maintain veterans' memorials in Alaska.
The bill creates a joint state and private endowment to replace or renovate memorials. The endowment will be managed by the Alaska Veterans Advisory Committee.
About $125,000 in contributions has been raised from private sector partners for the endowment.
The bill also spends $125,000 in public money to match the private funds.
