Burn permit suspension lifted

The Kenai-Kodiak Area Office of Alaska State Forestry has lifted the burning permit suspension for permitted piles. Permittees must follow the terms on the permit and call-in each day to the notification phone number listed on the permit prior to lighting a fire. Permits are not valid during windy conditions.

Cheerleader tryouts, workshops set

Workshops and tryouts for the fall Soldotna High School cheerleading squad are scheduled at the school. Workshops will begin at 10 a.m. Monday and Tuesday, and tryouts will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Participants need to present a copy of their current physical in order to participate in the workshop and tryouts.

Nutrition classes scheduled

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank will host a eight-week series of nutrition classes on Tuesdays titled Harvesting for your Health. The session ends Aug. 2. Colleen Sonnevil of the Cooperative Extension Services office will instruct on how to harvest area plants and fish. Attendance at all classes is not required. Swim team tryouts begin

The Soldotna Silver Salmon swim team will hold open tryouts at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Soldotna High School pool. For more information, call 262-7419.

UCIDA membership meeting slated

The United Cook Inlet Drift Association will hold its 25th annual membership meeting from 1 to 4 p.m. July 1 at the Kenai Elks Lodge. It is for members only. For more information, call Cindy Hall at 260-9436.

Baseball series seeks sponsors

Frontier Community Services is seeking sponsorships, donations and possible vendors for its annual World Series Baseball event July 9 at the Kenai Little League fields.
