Summer day camp available in Nikiski
The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area will offer summer day camp for children in grades first through sixth from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays through Aug. 2.
A variety of activities will be offered including pottery, gym games, cooking, arts and crafts, sports activities and video games. No preregistration is required. Drop-ins are welcome. For more information, call Tammy at 776-8800.
Nutrition classes available
The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank will hold its final free nutrition class, “Your Body Works on What You Eat,” from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the food bank at 33955 Community College Drive in Soldotna.

Quilt show a piece of work
Quilting on the Kenai’s 13th annual Quilt Extravaganza Viewer’s Choice Quilt Show will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 46719 Kalifornsky Beach Road in Soldotna. Classes, vendors, demonstrations and more than 100 quilts are some of the planned events and displays.
Hospital plans special meeting
The Central Peninsula Hospital Inc. board of directors will hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Augustine Conference Room at the hospital. It is open to the public. For more information, call Bonnie Nichols at 714-4500.
Parent education offered
The Kenai Peninsula Community Care Center will hold a free video-based parent education program titled “Active Parenting Today” for parents of children ages 2 through 12. The classes will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays beginning this week for seven weeks at the Kenai Public Health conference room. Class materials are provided.
