Surrounded by family and friends, popular Kenai City Councilmen Duane Bannock served up free burgers last week at Kenai Chrysler Center.
According to campaign chairman Rick Baldwin, a Kenai Attorney, it was truly a free lunch and not a campaign fundraiser. Bannock officially announced his intentions to seek the position currently held by Mayor John Williams at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce luncheon the day before.
"Being the mayor of the city of Kenai is something I have wanted to do for a long, long, time. With some good council and some good guidance, I decided that it was best to jump out as early as I possibly could," said Bannock. Mayor John Williams has held the post since 1986.
